The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual “Met Gala” returned on Monday, after a year off in 2020 due to the pandemic! To say we were excited would be an understatement!
This year’s theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”. It would be impossible to pick a single favourite look, so here are a few that we just couldn’t stop thinking about!
Emily Ratajkowski
Emily Ratajkowski turned heads in a custom, romantic red dress by Vera Wang. The fitted floor-length gown featured a strapless corset and separate mesh and lace sleeves for an extra sprinkling of sass!
Decorated with floral lace patterning, the theme continued with a large red flower resting upon Emily’s right shoulder.
Lily-Rose Depp
Lily-Rose Depp stunned in a baby pink two-piece by Chanel, embellished with dazzling sequins and contrasting black flowers. The bandeau crop top and low-rise midi skirt were a refreshing change from the average all-in-one.
Anok Yai
Anok Yai’s Oscar De La Renta dress was described by the fashion designer himself as “a skimming celestial crystal gown”. Featuring star-shaped crystals and a plunging neckline, this was clearly one of the most unique looks. Paired with long sheer black gloves and a dramatic floor-length feather jacket, it would be a crime to keep this from our list.
Kendall Jenner
Arguably the most fashionable Jenner sister, Kendall never fails to kick it up a notch. Designed by Givenchy, Kendall’s crystal-covered dress had her sparkling from head to toe.
Described as a “naked dress”, Kendall Jenner’s gown was cleverly designed to reveal a skin-toned corset bodysuit underneath. The contrast between beige and silver highlighted each and every gemstone perfectly, as well as her gorgeous figure!
Megan Fox
Megan Fox turned heads in a sexy red gown by Dundas, showing off intricate beadwork and scattered crystal embellishments. The deep V-shaped neckline and cut-out sides featured unique cross-cross panelling.
Gigi Hadid
Celebrating classic Hollywood glamour, fashion model Gigi Hadid wore a contemporary white gown by Prada. Hadid’s look featured a boned corset waist, strapless bodice and glossy satin finish. The supermodel added a modern twist to the vintage-inspired design, accessorising with bold black leather gloves and fiery red hair.
Yara Shahidi
Yara Shahidi arrived at the awards in a stunning strapless dress designed by Christian Dior. The custom gown was covered in twinkling gems and embroidered beads. A light, classic veil and long gloves contrasted beautifully against the intricate patterning, while a crystal necklace and matching headband added a final touch of sparkle.
